Functional gypsum board, also known as functional gypsum board, is a building material made primarily of gypsum. Specific properties are achieved through core modification or surface treatment. Core types include waterproof gypsum board, fireproof gypsum board, and sound-absorbing board. It features lightweight, high strength, thermal insulation, fire resistance, sound insulation, and ease of construction, and is widely used in interior partitions and ceilings of residential and commercial buildings.
Waterproof gypsum board incorporates a waterproofing agent in its core material and facing paper. Its water absorption rate is 5% according to the American ASTM standard and does not exceed 10% according to national standards. It is suitable for high-humidity areas such as kitchens and bathrooms, but should not be soaked for extended periods. Fireproof gypsum board incorporates materials such as fiberglass to slow the spread of fire; sound-absorbing boards use perforated designs to enhance noise reduction.
