Moisture-resistant board, also known as melamine board (substrate), incorporates a certain proportion of moisture-resistant particles during the production process of the base material. This significantly reduces the degree of swelling when the board comes into contact with water. Moisture-resistant board originated in Europe.
Moisture-resistant board, also known as melamine board (substrate), incorporates a certain proportion of moisture-resistant particles during the production process of the base material. This significantly reduces the degree of swelling when the board comes into contact with water. Generally, moisture-resistant boards produced by reputable board manufacturers have clear markings to distinguish them from ordinary boards. For example, the well-known European brand, Elco, incorporates green and red pigments into its moisture-resistant board. Different colors indicate different levels of moisture resistance. For kitchen countertops, which require higher moisture resistance, red boards with better moisture resistance are suitable, while green boards are sufficient for cabinet doors.
When ordinary and moisture-resistant base materials are simultaneously soaked in water, the expansion rate of the ordinary board is significantly higher than that of the moisture-resistant board after two hours. Moisture-resistant board has good moisture resistance and is suitable for making kitchen and bathroom furniture.
